Mitt McDuck

Governor Mitt Romney, said in March that he would not promise any government help for students, and insisted that young Americans should not “expect the government to forgive the debt that you take on.” He then bid his nephews adieu and dived head first into a gold vault.

  1. Ok, I laughed out loud when I read this. I actually agree with Mr. Romney (I know...I bet you are shocked), but still...the thought of him diving into that gold vault was hilarious.

    2. I don't think we should pay off other people's loans. We have a choice to take a loan or not. And this is from a girl who has paid off a third of a $45,000 dollar loan, just by work. I'm going to pay off the other 2/3rds by work too.
I really don't like politics, but I have some strong opinions on things that seem ethical to me. Those opinions lean left or right depending on what is at stake.

    3. But don't see the enormous burden we're putting on young people or the disadvantage in the global marketplace from countries with free education?

    4. "We" aren't putting anything on young people. "They" choose to take on the burden of debt. I did. And I will continue paying for it myself. I borrowed money, and the right thing to do is to repay it.

    5. mit's statement was in regards to the interest rate that is about to increase by 100%
it is easy to take a hard line stand on an issue like this when your father leaves you hundreds of millions and your college education was payed for before you even start.
offering no interest loans for education is smart for our country...the more educated person usually pays more in taxes in his or her lifetime...
but why would the mit's want more educated people in this country? that would either be competition, or more people to see that they are bilking billions from out country in their business practices........
