Rants and Ravings from your Friendly Neighborhood Liberals
Not all who vote are created equally Ben...there are those who have been elivated by the lord Baby Jesus... then they get in their race cars and shake and bake!
Shake and bake!!
Yes, if the person calling America a Christian nation was in government and was also telling people whom to worship then that would be a big violation of religious freedom. But this is a bit of a "tu quoque" argument you have going.
It was on the radio, run by a corporation with considerable influence.
Right, but influence and ability to ACTUALLY violate religious freedom is different. I still think saying, "I know Obama violates religious freedom, but that guy over there does too!" takes away from the issue.
I don't think Obama is. He's actually granting religious freedom. No one has to take contraception, but they have the option if their personal faith allows for it.
That isn't true. Pressuring religious organizations to pay for someone's birth control against what they believe is a violation of religious freedom.
Most of those "religious organizations" you are speaking of were already covering the contraception that they are now complaining about having to cover under Obamacare. Please...
I don't see how those organizations are germane to the topic at hand. I'm clearly talking about the ones who DO think it's wrong.
Not forcing religious organizations... forcing businesses...I believe that telling an employee not of your faith that they can't have the same opportunity for personal health care as other people based on the employer's faith is an abuse of freedom of religion. Otherwise the employees would be tax exempt. Religious freedom is the ability to practice your religion freely, except in cases where it infringes on other's personal civil libertys .
The employee can just get a new job. Or pay for their own birth control. If I was a business owner I would opt to pay the tax and not give anyone health insurance, rather than pay for birth control. There are many business owners who are taking this route. It's actually more cost effective AND it won't violate their consciences.
I believe that is a form of dishonisty What happned when peoples personal beliefs dictated that black humans were worth nothing more then property... and churches supported it and preasts made sermans to that regard...they were wrong, and they are wrong now, if they don't like it they could go opperate in another country
