A Rant by Ben Ditmars: Read at Your Own Risk!
As those of you who haven’t lost their minds under the constant barrage of politics may know: the Republican Nation Convention is in full-swing. It’s quite impossible to avoid, as the media covers every orifice. A few things bother me more than most. The slogan, brutally latched onto where Obama said, business owners did not build their own business is an unfair assessment. We do not live in a bubble and are a society, having certain social duties to one another. If you don’t like that, you’re probably rich enough to buy your own island and run a Lord of the Flies-esque society. I suggest you do it. More unfair however, is what they are using it to propagate. The Republican Platform on the whole is barbaric. I refuse to sugarcoat it. They want complete corporate control. They do not want the individual having a say. They don’t even want women having a say over their own reproductive system. In what world do rapists have parental rights? Isn’t it bad enough to force someone through a rape pregnancy? But, I’ve digressed as rants tend to do. The idea of “we built it” is as a motto to empower their base. Yet, it also has darker connotations. People are on their own. They should not be entitled to healthcare. They should not be helped to afford it. It should be as expensive as hell and we should have to suffer to let the rich pay low tax rates. Nothing should be done about our larger problems. We must sit idly by and watch. The benevolent market will take care of everything as it always had. What’s that commie? We owed the banks bailout money for being so good to America. Any money they want will come from tax payers for the hell of it. They don’t need to run their business well but damn it if you mess up there’s nothing for you. Don’t count on health care or benefits. We gave it all to the rich. Your tax money isn’t yours, it’s Exxon-Mobile’s. They and BP own our oceans and will do with them as they please. Also, they won’t pay taxes. You will pay tribute to them. They are mighty Gods and you are nothing.
Poor white trash
I’m hungry Mama
It was cold,
cold enough to snow, but I don’t remember there being any snow on the ground. We
were standing in line outside a warehouse on the north side of Nampa Idaho. I
remember thinking that we stood there forever…but that was the perspective of a
four year old boy, could have been an hour, maybe more, maybe less.
I do vividly remember
how the people driving past us would slow down and stare. There was one man in
particular, he was driving an older pickup truck, late seventies model, who
slowed way down and glared. It scared me, the anger and hatred on the man’s
face as he looked at me and the other people in line. What had I done for him
to be so angry at me?
“Mama I’m cold.”
“I’m cold too,
be quiet” she snapped
As we got a bit
closer “I’m hungry Mama.”
“We’ll eat when
we get home.”
“How much
longer Mama, I’m hungry?”
“If you don’t be
quiet you won’t get anything to eat,” she snapped grabbing my arm, “be quiet!”
As we got closer
to the building I could see a truck bay open and people were standing on the
dock handing things out.
Finally we
reached the dock and a man handed my mom a box, the next was a woman and she
handed mom a block of butter and on down the line we went. By the end of the
line we had a block of butter, a large block of cheese, a jar of honey, a can
of peanut butter, some flour, rice, two loaves of white bread, and a large bag
of powdered milk.
As an adult I
still remember how good that cheese from that huge block tasted…we had no food.
We were at the point that without help we would have been in jeopardy of
starving. At that point we would have been considered poor white trash.
Having heard
people who, having never been in the position where only the charity of others
could keep you alive say shit like “they are just lazy” or “fucking
freeloaders, we should let them starve” “fucking
welfare brats, they should never have been born if they couldn’t feed um themselves,
they’ll only grow up to live off of welfare leaching off us hard working people…it’s
a fucking shame” “I work my ass off so
they can live high off the hog” having heard things like that for years I can
only imagine what that red necked ignorant fuck in the old truck told his
friends. I don’t have to imagine it, I have already heard it, I still hear it
from fox news, and from some conservative people I know.
That night I
felt like I was living high off the hog; I was four, and for once I didn’t have
my mom snap at me when I asked for more because I was hungry. For once in a
long time I went to sleep with a full belly. Yes, drinking powdered milk and
eating government cheese is living high off the hog when your starving
In school I
worked in the cafeteria so that I could have food for lunch. The other students
treated me like shit because they knew the reason I was washing dishes. My
family was poor.
Society treated
me as less then because I was born into a life in the lower socioeconomically
then the vast majority of people.
Let me tell you
this you red necked ignorant hillbilly fucksticks , and you conceited pieces of
crap that talk about welfare queens as you try to cut social programs…I have
paid off every fucking cent that the government invested in me times thirty,
and by the time I die I will have paid it off a thousand fold. For every ten
people that abuse the system there are a thousand that use it as a hand up to
greater things.
While you
ponder that do the math…if you can. I pay thousands a year in taxes…I work
hard, I help people in need, I donate when I can…
I was a good
fucking investment…so for the man in the old truck that looked at me like I was
less than dirt, fuck you, I will contribute more to society than ten of your judgmental
asses could… do that math

From Wander Posted by Ben and Approved by Moms Like You
Chris from Wander without Being Lost gave me permission to post this commentary from his Facebook:
People wonder why we didn't go into another great depression... well here it is. The economic straights we would be in would have been so much worse. The depression from the 30s was caused by the same industry that caused our recent economic melt down. Banking, and to a certain extent is not at times concerned with the long term affects of their practices. To deny that is to intentionally overlook this same pattern throughout recorded history. Our economic recovery will happen, and in time an economic collapse will happen again. The important thing to remember is that at the end of the day the vast majority of people want the same things; we want our family, friends, and selves to be happy healthy safe and free!

Church Reform: Good or Bad?
It is no secret that the Vatican has been at odds with the American nuns. Pat Farrell, the departing president of the nuns’ group, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, said at a news conference that the members of her organization wanted to be “recognized as equal in the church,” to have their style of religious life “respected and affirmed,” and to help create a climate in which everyone in the church can talk about “issues that are very complicated.”
Do you agree with these assumptions? Is the church too far removed from problems in the modern world? And, most importantly should nuns remain subservient and silent in a democracy built upon free speech?

Mittens del gatito
People of America, wake up! Mitt Romney is NOT one of us. His father was born in Mexico. Which means, he was born in Mexico! The new birther movement has begun. We can't have Kenyan and we can't have a Mexican! The real choice for president is obvious. David Duke has been there for this nation: in the Louisiana legislature, Republican primaries and most notably the Ku Klux Klan. He is the only candidate to stand his ground against the Jewish banking conspiracy and he will expand our newly fascist borders. Corporations and government must act as one, as Mussolini said. And no one knows Mussolini better than David Duke. After being shot down on the Eastern front in World War Two, Duke transcended and met God. He was then given a prophecy to take back to earth. His virile new body has allowed him to preach this gospel. Corporations are people, He says. They are the government and they are us. We must offer two lambs yearly to the oil companies; three steers to the insurance and weaker children to the hedge fund managers. This is the only way we will survive as a Christian nation.

Another Crazy commentary from Wander
Hi this is Wander from Wander
without being lost. I would like to open a discussion, and a respectful one,
about the Chick issue. I posted a picture on my Facebook page, and it incited a
woman to go on the war path…she felt it necessary to start a rude debate about
the lies that liberals tell, and how they were all dumb, and that I was an
idiot and a moron; All the while claiming to be a Christian woman.
Where did our nation’s
ability to speak in a respectful manner go…granted I lost my temper when She
came at me in such a rude and aggressive way. One of my beliefs is that if you
want to speak down to me, or anyone else you lose the right to be responded to
in a polite fashion, also I think so called “clean” language can be as low and
vulgar as curse words. If you call someone a piece of crap with nice words you
are still calling them a piece of crap!
My questions for you are:
1) Is it ok to start a public
wave of protest against a company based on what they as a company use their
money to support, i.e. social issues?
2) While acting as a CEO of a
company, and commenting about the spending and social practices of the company
you are running are you practicing free speech, or are you laying out what your
company stands for?
3) Do you think Gay marriage is
wrong?
4) Do you think it is ok to
exclude one sect of society from rights granted to another sect based on some people’s
religious beliefs?
5) And finally, what the hell
is a fast food resteraunt doing having an opinion on same sex marriages?
I have never claimed to stand
for any one political entity, but every time I express an opinion on any social
issue I am called names, liberal, conservative, republican, democrat, apologizer,
moron, idiot, ect ect ect…I am just a free thinking American man and my opinion
is based on contemplation and comparing what I see vs what they say.
This not being my blog If
you are rude, or use nice words to convey a nasty position I won’t cuss you out. I
will just express in a very polite way what a nasty person you are how you are unqualified
to hold your position in humanity ...then erase your comment!
